The University of Bucharest, The Research Institute of the University of Bucharest and EU COST Action CA15219 Developing new genetic tools for bioassessment of aquatic ecosystems in Europe (DNAqua-Net) will organize the DNAqua-Net Training School „Application of (e)DNA in aquatic bioassessments”, that will take place in Bucharest, at the the Research Platform in Biology and Systems Ecology, from October 22 to 26, 2018.

This training school is primarily intended for professionals, MSc, PhD students, post-doctoral and young researchers involved in the study of aquatic biodiversity, who already have basic knowledge and / or are interested in (e)DNA methodologies. It is mandatory that the applicants are actively working in the field of biomonitoring and are (preferably long-term) employed at universities and other research institutions with molecular facilities.

The main goal of this (e)DNA training school is focused on institutional development by transferring and applying the knowledge and skills acquired during the training school to the laboratories from which the candidates come from. The core topics include training in (e)DNA-conformable sampling/storing for different Biological Quality Elements (Fish, Diatoms, Macroinvertebrates), central laboratory steps (DNA isolation, PCR, library preparation) and bioinformatics analyses.

The participants were selected from COST Inclusiveness Target Countries like Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Croatia, Hungary, Lithuania, Latvia, Luxembourg, Malta, Montenegro, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Slovakia, the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Republic of Serbia and Turkey.
