Research seminar coordinated by Kirsten Walsh (Fellow at IRH) and Adrian Currie (Visiting Scholar at IRH)
Thursday, 4-6pm, IRH Seminar Room
We will investigate the nature, practice, and epistemology of modelling. How does modelling practice differ from other modes of scientific enquiry? Do models provide epistemic benefits which experiments or natural observations do not? Should we think of models as mediating our contact with natural systems, or is their role more direct? Are models merely heuristic, or are there epistemic benefits which only they can provide?
1st meeting: Thursday 19th of November
Casual attendees welcome!
