Methods of excavation and recording in the archaeological sites


The Division of ArchaeoSciences – the Research Institute of the University of Bucharest (ICUB) is pleased to announce a new ArchaeoSciences Workshop event entitled “Methods of excavation and recording in the archaeological sites” by Dr Laurent Carozza (France). He is a renowned researcher and archaeologist, working at UMR 5602, Maison de la Recherche de l’Université du Mirail, Toulouse, and between October 2020 and May 2021, he is a Visiting Professor at the Research Institute of the University of Bucharest (ICUB).

The workshop aims to familiarize students at all levels of vocational training (bachelor’s, master’s, doctorate) with the main directions and trends related to planning and conducting archaeological excavations, excavation methods, methods of field data recording, strategies sample collection, post-excavation processing methods of archaeological materials and data. This event is designed in the form of four meetings, according to the theme in the table below, which took place physically, every Friday, between 11:00 and 13:00, at Digital Archeology Lab, room 7, basement, Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics (Academiei Street, no. 14, Bucharest).

The workshop targets a limited number of participants, due to the current situation. It is designed for 10-12 participants (students, master students, doctoral students of the University of Bucharest). Registrations will be made exclusively online, via e-mail, at the address archaeoscience@icub.unibuc.ro, until March 4, 2021, at 19:00.
