The International Conference Environment at CrossrOads: SMART approaches for a sustainable future – ECOSMART will take place between September 5-8 2019. The event is organized by the University of Bucharest through the Faculty of Geography and the Research Institute of University of Bucharest.
The topic of the conference includes Applied geomorphology and pedology, GIS and remote sensing applications, Climate change adaptation, Challenges in water management, Environmental sciences, Geodemographic research, Sustainable territorial planning, Urbanization and territorial cohesion, Tourism as a driver for sustainable development and Novel teaching strategies.
In addition, the conference includes two workshops on themes of practical actuality: The challenging urban nature and nature’s role in urban challenges (organized with support from the Society of Urban Ecology) and Assessing the performance of Romanian geographical research (organized with support from the International Geographical Union). The conference includes a special section dedicated to PhD students and two debate sessions about Approaching performance in Geography and The relationship between university and pre-university education.
ECOSMART conference will be attended by important companies in the fields of geospatial solutions and environmental equipment (ESRI Romania, Integraph Computers Services, Maguay), some of the most important partners of the Faculty of Geography, both in the educational and research process.
Main results of the conference can be published in the special issue dedicated to the conference – “Dealing with environmental conflicts”. The special issue has a specific thematic and is following the publishing politics of the Sustainability journal.
