ICUB vă invită la prelegerea „Dynamic of the cultural changes in the coastal zone between Danube and Balkan mountains from the end of 6th to the end of 5th millennia BC”, susținută de Dr. Vladimir Slavchev, de la Muzeul Regional de Istorie din Varna

Joi, 19 februarie 2026, Institutul de Cercetare al Universității din București (ICUB) vă invită la ediția cu numărul 46 a seminarului ArchaeoSciences. Invitatul acestei ediții este Dr. Vladimir Slavchev de la Muzeul Regional de Istorie din Varna (Bulgaria), care va ține prelegerea intitulată “Dynamic of the cultural changes in the coastal zone between Danube and Balkan mountains from the end of 6th to the end of 5th millennia BC”.

Seminarul va avea loc începând cu ora 12:00 (EET), în Sala de Seminare ICUB (fostul Herbar), Facultatea de Biologie, Corp Grădina Botanică (Intrarea Portocalelor Nr. 3, demisol, sector 6).

Dr. Vladimir Slavchev este asistent șef la Departamentul de Arheologie al Muzeului Regional de Istorie din Varna. A absolvit Departamentul de Arheologie al Facultății de Istorie a Universității din Sofia în 1997, iar în același an a debutat acolo ca specialist. În 2005 și-a susținut teza de doctorat cu tema „Contactele dintre coasta nord-vestică a Mării Negre, Dobrogea și zona de silvostepă din Europa de Est în timpul tranziției de la eneoliticul timpuriu la cel târziu (pe baza datelor ceramice)”. A coordonat peste 100 de săpături arheologice, incluzând așezarea de lângă orașul Suvorovo, prima și a treia necropolă de la Varna și tell-ul Golemiya Ostrov de lângă Durankulak. Printre altele, a fost bursier al Fundației Alexander von Humboldt la Departamentul Eurasiatic al Institutului Arheologic German din Berlin (2008-2010), profesor asistent onorific în Preistorie Partea I, specialitatea Arheologie, la Universitatea din Sofia (1998–2001), lector onorific în preistorie la departamentul de arheologie al Universității Episcopul Konstantin Preslavsky (2014/2015), lector invitat la Universitatea Națională Kazahă „Al-Farabi” (Almaty, Kazahstan) (2014/2015) și lector invitat la numeroase universități din Germania, Ucraina, Republica Moldova, Rusia și Statele Unite. Expertiza sa constă în principal în domeniul preistoriei, în special eneoliticul de pe coasta Mării Negre, Dobrogea și regiunile învecinate.

Aceste seminare sunt o inițiativă originală a Platformei ArchaeoSciences (ASp) din cadrul ICUB, care își propune să ofere un cadru de exprimare profesioniștilor din domeniul științelor arheologice din diferite părți ale lumii pentru a împărtăși cunoștințe și a transmite informații semnificative despre cele mai recente probleme referitoare la metodele și abordările actuale utilizate pentru studierea trecutului. De asemenea, reprezintă o șansă pentru studenții români de a afla mai multe despre diversele aspecte interdisciplinare ale arheologiei și arheoștiințelor.

On Thursday, 19 February 2026, the Research Institute of the University of Bucharest (ICUB) invites you to the 49th ArchaeoSciences seminar. This edition’s guest speaker is Dr. Vladimir Slavchev from the Regional Museum of History, Varna (Bulgaria), who will present a lecture titled “Dynamic of the cultural changes in the coastal zone between Danube and Balkan mountains from the end of 6th to the end of 5th millennia BC”.

The seminar will start at 12:00 (EET), at the ICUB Seminar Room (formerly the Herbarium), Faculty of Biology, Botanical Garden Building (3 Portocalelor Entrance, basement, District 6).

Dr. Vladimir Slavchev is Chief Assistant at the Archaeology Department of the Regional History Museum in Varna. He graduated from the Department of Archaeology at the Faculty of History of Sofia University in 1997 and started working there as a specialist in the same year. In 2005 he defended his doctoral dissertation on the topic “Contacts between the Northwestern Black Sea Coast, Dobrudja and the Forest-Steppe Zone of Eastern Europe during the Transition from Early to Late Eneolithic (Based on Ceramic Data)”. He led over 100 archaeological excavations, including the settlement near the town of Suvorovo, the First and Third Varna Necropolises, and the Golemiya Ostrov tell near Durankulak. Among others, he was an Alexander von Humboldt Foundation Fellow at the Eurasian Department of the German Archaeological Institute in Berlin (2008-2010), Honorary Assistant Professor in Prehistory Part I in the specialty of Archaeology at Sofia University (1998–2001), Honorary Lecturer in Prehistory in the Archaeology department at the Bishop Konstantin Preslavsky University (2014/2015), Guest Lecturer at the Kazakh National University “Al-Farabi” (Almaty, Kazakhstan) (2014/2015), and Guest Lecturer at numerous universities in Germany, Ukraine, Republic of Moldova, Russia and the United States. His main areas of expertise are mainly in the field of prehistory, in particular the Copper Age of the Black Sea Coast, Dobrudja and the neighboring regions.

These seminars are an original initiative of the ArchaeoSciences Platform (ASp) at ICUB, which aims to provide an open space for professionals in archaeological sciences worldwide to share knowledge and engage with the latest methodological and theoretical advances in the study of the past. They also offer Romanian students a valuable opportunity to discover the interdisciplinary dimensions of archaeology and archaeosciences.
