April 2023 - March 2024

Raluca Bujor teaches Philosophy and Logic, argumentation and communication at the National Highschool „Sfântul Sava” in Bucharest. She also collaborates for elective courses on topics related to Ancient Greek Philosophy with the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Bucharest. In 2022, she received her doctorate from Sorbonne University in Paris, after defending a thesis on the atopia of Socrates in Plato’s Dialogues. Her research was conducted in a joint PhD supervision between University of Bucharest and Sorbonne University. Her main research interests revolve around the dramatic form of Platonic writings, the figure of Socrates and the history of western philosophy.

My ICUB project (Temporality in Philosophical Discourse: skholê and logos in Plato’s Dialogues) addresses the connection Plato makes between philosophical inquiry and skholê, leaving nevertheless aside the political dimension of leisure as well as its relevance for education in the ideal cities Plato depicts in parts of dialogues such as the Republic or the Laws. What interests me is the specific temporality of philosophical discourse as it is described directly and indirectly by Plato when Socrates discusses the specific unfolding of a philosophical conversation. Following the hypothesis that Plato’s endeavor is often that of distinguishing philosophical logos from other types of speech present in ancient Athens an inquiry on how exactly philosophical skholê structures itself will contribute to a better intimation of what platonic philosophy is.
