History and Philosophy of Science

Dana Jalobeanu is the coordinator of the Humanities Division of ICUB and a reader in Philosophy, member of the research center for Logic and Philosophy of Science, and of the research center Foundations of Early Modern Thought, University of Bucharest. She has studied physics and philosophy and has a PhD in philosophy of science. AOS: early modern experimental philosophy (Bacon to Newton), early modern science, philosophy of scientific experimentation. AOC: history and philosophy of science, general philosophy of science, European intellectual history (especially Renaissance and Early Modern). She is the executive editor of the journal Societate și politică and co-editor of the Journal of Early Modern Studies. She is one of the initiators and co-organizers, since 2001, of the Princeton-Bucharest seminar in early modern philosophy (12 editions since 2001). Recent works: The Art of Experimental Natural History: Francis Bacon in Context, Zeta Books: Bucharest, 2015. DanaJalobeanu, Peter Anstey, eds., Vanishing matter and the laws of nature: Descartes and beyond, Routledge: London, 2011.
